AI food scanning for calories and nutrition tracking
SnapFood is a free lifestyle app that uses AI to estimate calories and nutrition based on photos. You can take a photo of a meal or upload an existing image, and the app identifies what is on your plate, estimates portions, and gives you a nutrition breakdown. It is designed for people who want to keep track of their meals with less manual entry.
What the app finds in your food
SnapFood lets you use your phone camera or an existing food photo to track a meal. Once you upload an image, the AI identifies the dishes, estimates portion sizes, and works out the calories and nutrients. It supports JPG, PNG, and WebP images up to 10MB, so you can scan home-cooked meals, takeout, or leftovers without typing everything in.
You then get calories, protein, carbs, fat, and fiber for each dish, plus confidence scores, macronutrient bars, food categories, and personalized tips based on what you ate. Results are available in five languages—English, Chinese, Spanish, French, and German. That said, AI results are estimates only and may differ from actual portions and nutritional values.
Good for rough estimates
Overall, SnapFood is a useful option if you want a photo calorie calculator that takes some of the work out of meal tracking. Its nutrition breakdown gives you more than just a calorie count, while the personalized tips add context to the results. It works best for everyday meal tracking when you need convenient estimates rather than exact nutritional measurements.
